SSGT ANTHONY LEE GOODWIN
USMC
Born: May 28, 1971
KIA: May 8, 2005
Friends and family that knew Anthony knew a man strong in convictions, undying love for his country, and respect for his fellow Marine.
Troops that served with SSgt Goodwin remember a man that was the epitome of leadership and strength. A "Marine's Marine", he cared for each young troop that he ever met. He led through example, and was respected by all.
He volunteered to deploy with RCT2 out of Camp Lejeune, NC and then again volunteered to act as a Platoon Commander for 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines, a reserve unit out of Columbus OH.
Anthony was killed by a spineless and cowardly insurgent while he was defending our precious freedom during combat in Iraq.
A strong supporter of the POW/MIA mission, he was a brother to our Chapter.
This scholarship is dedicated in his name, to help the children of Veterans from this area, and to carry on the name of SSgt Anthony Lee Goodwin for all future generations.
